VISION & VISIONARIES

The DAV institutions are the gift of Arya Samaj, a progressive movement founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati in 1875. Swami Dayanand Sarawati, the great path-maker of modern India, led a crusade against the superstitious and pernicious practices that prevailed in contemporary India.

With a view to bring about balanced and harmonious development of the future citizens of this country and to infuse in them the ideals of Vedic Culture and high sense of patriotism, Arya Samaj founded a school at Lahore in 1886 by the name of DAYANAND ANGLO VEDIC SCHOOL. This established the DAV College Trust & Management Society, which later set-up a network of such educational institutions all over India.

The DAV Movement would not have achieved its goal had not a young brilliant graduate- later Mahatma Hansraj- the first principal of DAV institution established at Lahore on June 1st 1886 offered his honorary services as ‘Jeevan Daan’, for 25 years. Matchless also was the sacrifice of his brother, Lala Mulkraj who fulfilled his pledge of supporting Hansraj’s family all these years.

Inspired by the selfless and dedicated motto WORK IS WORSHIP”, it started spreading a wide spectrum throughout the whole country. Presently it is the longest non-government educational organization in the country managing over 700 educational institutions.

DAV MOVEMENT IN ORISSA

It goes to the credit of Dr.A.N.Khosla, the then Governor of Orissa for introducing the DAV movement in the state in 1968. He had been the office bearer of the D.A.V. Society for years together and every well understood the role of this movement in the spread of literacy and technical education. In the remote areas of the state and is in a breathless attempt to add more and more feathers to its crown owing to the trust of the people in perpetuating on innovative technique of education programme.

Profile of the Institute

D.A.V. Public School, Pokhariput managed by the DAV COLLEGE MANAGEMENT SOCIETY, New Delhi has been functioning from 1992 under the able administration and good will of the school Management Committee, who are always with constructive suggestions and immediate solution at the hour of need. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

THE CAMPUS

This is a 3+ to 17+ from LKG TO STD-XII mixed compressive school which started in Old Town Bhubaneswar in 1992, with strength of 192 students and was shifted to Pokhariput, Aerodorme area in the year 1998.

Crossing over many barricade on its way, it has now reached to the considerable apex within a short span of time. At present the school is housed a 3 storyed building with 90 staff members and 2000 students. Adorned with the state of the art infrastructure. The school provides a congenial environment for alround development of the whole personality and its integration with the society. Highly motivated and dedicated team of teachers play the role of a model for the students. Individual care and personalised coaching and regular effort have woven a very vibrant and inspiring environment where learning is a joy and teaching a fun.

FACILITIES EXTENDED

Sports Arena
The campus has a playground for Football, Cricket, Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi & Athletics.

Reading Centre
A 4000 sq.ft open reading centre with 10,000 books of National and International repute and journals, a Web Resource Centre and Teacher Resource Centre is the focal point & nerve centre of the students.

Computer Wing
Two full-fledged computer labs with Broad-band and Dial-up Internet connection consisting of more than 80 P-IV computers are housed. This year the school has been awarded with the State Computer Literacy Award.

Laboratories
3 well equipped State-of-the-art laboratories for Science, Mathematics Lab, a fun-filled Kid’s Den, a large well equipped Audio Visual Room along with 3 Activity Rooms, Thinking Lab for Junior Classes of V,VI & VIII are the centre of progressive learning.

Clubs
Six clubs named Literary Litany, Environment Space, Sports Arena, Cultural Pantheon, Cyber Hub & Quizzard under the guidance of a Teacher President and Student Secretary are vibrant catering to the development of personality and leadership qualities.

Beyond the Curriculum
Intensive coaching is provided to the students for preparation of NTSE, Mathematics, Science & Cyber Olympiad, JEE/Medical coaching for Std- IX to XII are taken up beyond the school hours.
